BerniePDX is excited to announce our Portland Public Schools Board endorsements! We endorsed these candidates because they will fight for more school funding for the classroom, not admin salaries. If elected, they promise a collaborative relationship with the teachers’ union, as opposed to the status quo of hostility and paternalism. They will also strive to protect students who are under threat from the Trump administration and increase services for students in need.
With public education under attack from the highest levels of government, it’s more important than ever to elect a school board who will fight for Portland students and support teachers. Please join us in supporting Christy Splitt in Zone 1, Rashelle Chase-Miller in Zone 4, Jorge Sanchez Bautista in Zone 5, and Stephanie Engelsman in Zone 6!

BerniePDX endorses Christy Splitt for PPS because she is already doing the work to increase school funding, from lobby visits in Salem to leading advocacy trainings for parents. Christy will work with the teachers’ union to fight for the classrooms and workplaces Portlanders deserve. Learn more at christysplitt.com

BerniePDX endorses Rashelle Chase-Miller for PPS because she will work with the teachers’ union – not against them – to achieve the best outcomes for Portland students. Rashelle is focused on increasing services for students in need and ensuring the PPS budget prioritizes positions that serve students directly. Learn more at rashelleforpps.org

BerniePDX is excited to endorse PPS high school student Jorge Sanchez Bautista for school board! Who better to advocate for students than an actual student? Jorge supports increasing funding for important school programs like special education and meals for all students. He will also work to create more equitable schools in our city. BerniePDX endorses Stephanie Engelsman for PPS because she will fight for the things students need to thrive: smaller class sizes, more school funding, supported union teachers, and arts education. Learn more at stephforourschools.com
