Single-Payer Day of Action Rally on Saturday, May 31! 12pm Tables, 1pm Speakers

Join BerniePDX and many others locally and nationally to rally for universal healthcare! Join us at 12pm to get plugged in with groups leading transformative work in our communities. Then at 1:00pm, we’ll kick off a powerful program featuring speakers fighting to make universal healthcare a reality in our state.

Our health care system is broken—and it’s killing us. For-profit insurers and corporate middlemen deny care, drive up costs, and profit off our pain. Decades of piecemeal reforms have only made things worse: skyrocketing prices, massive waste, and some of the worst health outcomes among wealthy countries.

We say: enough. We demand a system that puts people before profit—where health care is treated as a human right, not a business.
We are calling for:

  • The elimination of private insurance companies and for-profit care.
  • A national, publicly funded single payer program that covers everyone—comprehensively and equitably.
  • A transformation of our health care system to serve communities, not corporations—freeing caregivers from corporate control and putting power in the hands of the people.

This event is happening in Portland, but we’re not stopping here. Activists are organizing sister actions across Oregon and around the country.

Location: Dawson Park, 1 N Stanton St.

Take Action to Stop and Reverse Federal Staffing and Budget Cuts!

From Federal Unionists Network: Congress needs to understand that their political futures depend on standing with the American people, not abandoning them when it matters most. We don’t want more speeches or symbolic gestures. As we fight to keep our jobs, we need them to do theirs and fight for the people they serve.

We’re calling for every Member of Congress to demand that agency heads halt all implementation of budget and staff cuts, and also firmly oppose ANY illegal cuts that have not received proper congressional authorization.

Send a letter to your Representatives TODAY using the links above, and tell them that you support Rep. Tlaib’s “Dear Colleague” letter opposing these senseless cuts to our crucial agencies and departments.  Together, we can – and will – protect federal jobs and the essential services our communities depend on.

Email City & County Leaders About Our Budget Priorities

Our Local Budgets Should Reflect Our Values. With pending budget cuts at the City of Portland and Multnomah County, our leaders need to hear our priorities. Email local leaders here and urge them to prioritize housing justice!

We all want to live in a city where everyone has a safe place to call home. A growing shortage of affordable housing has forced many Portlanders to live outside. Let’s Ensure Local Budgets are working to House People.

Tell Congress: Let Aid Into Gaza

Gaza stands on the brink of forced famine. Israel has closed border crossings for over 2 months, blocking any humanitarian aid from entering.

Now Israel is threatening to expand its military attacks to violently take over all of Gaza. As Israel’s largest military funder, the United States has the power to ensure humanitarian aid access and stop the genocide.

TAKE ACTION NOW: Call Congress. It only takes a few minutes. Tell your representatives to demand immediate opening of ALL border crossings for unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery.

Tell Mayor Wilson: Don’t Increase the Portland Police Budget

The time for action is now – Sign here! Mayor Wilson is proposing to cut every other public service EXCEPT PPB In a time when we should be making cuts to police and investing in the services and programs that truly make our communities safe.

The current proposed budget increases police funding from the General Fund by $12 million, bringing the Portland Police Bureau’s (PPB) total budget to $318 million for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. PPB is the city bureau with the largest share of the General Fund—34% in 2024-2025—and the 2025-2026 proposed budget will bring it to 38%. This is all while Portland is looking at a huge $65 million budget deficit!
