Portland has a multi-billion dollar independent music-driven economy. Live Nation-Ticketmaster, which is currently being sued by the Justice Dept, and joined by 30 state attorneys general, for monopolizing markets across the live concert industry, is targeting Portland with a proposal to open a venue on Water Avenue near the Hawthorne Bridge.
Live Nation’s predatory, profit-seeking, and unlawful conduct in the pursuit of market control has come at the cost of industry workers who seek fair standards, local promoters, venue operators, and is a threat to our community values and local economy. We must do everything in our power to stop Live Nation and demand a local owner/operator instead. Our best shot at stopping Live Nation from breaking ground is appealing their Land Use permit and telling Portland City Council to Cancel the Live Nation/Ticketmaster Deal.
